Hey there french fries!
Thursday night I went to see Vallis Alps live for the first time at The Corner Hotel in Richmond. They are touring to perform their new EP which will be out by the end of the month! (Link to their SoundCloud)
I first listened to their music a couple years ago, and although they didn’t have many tracks out at the time, I couldn’t stop listening to them on repeat.
Anyway, a couple weeks ago I was thinking about how much I missed going to gigs. So I started looking up gigs and to my surprise Vallis Alps was having four shows in Melbourne and they were all sold out!
I immediately got onto the Facebook event page and posted my interest for a ticket. I was lucky enough that someone was selling theirs and contacted me. I was so keen to go that I didn’t even care if I was going alone. However, the night before I was lucky enough to get a second ticket so I could have some company 😀
The first thing that stood out to me was that they were really engaging with the audience. Even though there was only two of them on stage, they filled up the space which made them enjoyable to watch. Unfortunately, I have been to gigs before where the whole band will just stay in the same spot the whole time and I think to myself, I might as well be at home listening to them on Spotify.
Obviously I was super excited to listen to their first songs I fell in love with and they didn’t disappoint. However, their new music was also pretty great and I’m looking forward to listening to it again when they release it online. Usually when I go to a concert and an artist plays new music that I haven’t heard before, I just zone out. I like to be able to sing along and be familiar with the tracks. I’m happy to say that this was not one of those concerts.
If/when they return to Melbourne, I would love to see them again and would highly recommend checking them out if you haven’t yet!
Til next time! xx
