I have a bit of an issue when it comes to doing work (and I’m sure many can relate to this). I procrastinate like crazy and then freak when I realise my deadline has approached which = unsatisfying outcomes.
Over the last couple years, I’ve come to realise that the key to a relaxing life isn’t to not work, or to not have responsibilities, but to find ways to enjoy your responsibilities.
Here’s just a couple of my favourite things to do when I really struggle to focus:
- THE LOCATION.
Find somewhere close, enjoyable and easily accessible where you can spend a few productive hours. For me, this is usually a local cafe or even a park. I just take my books or laptop, snacks or a drink (if you’re at a cafe it’s very convenient) and I make my own little station. Putting yourself in an environment you enjoy will instantly make you feel better about doing work.
- INSTANT REWARDS.
As I’m doing work, I always like to have a coffee or perhaps a little snack. As I do my work I say to myself “Okay Elena, you can’t take another sip until you finish that sentence.” As childish as it sounds, if you make this a habit it really works, especially if you love coffee as much as me.
Hope this helps you out next time you gotta get some work done and if you have any tips make sure to leave them below! I need all the help I can get. xx
